When the library and meeting place was opened for the wealthier merchants of Yialos, the people of Chorio decided they also wanted their own special place and as a result the Sillogos was built and no named. The translation of Syllogos being association, society or union.

As the community centre it was used for public meetings, dances and large, family celebrations and though taken over as a taverna continued to serve this purpose. One of the original special features built onto the door of the Syllogos was the "pour box", where money donations could be posted. On a regular basis this box would be opened and its contents distributed to the needy people of Symi. The poor box is still fitted on the door of Syllogos.

Today, sitting having a drink or meal on the terrace, experiencing the stunning views, you can understand why one occupier of the building renamed it to the Panorama. Now having returned to its original name, Lemonia and Lefteris, offer all the traditional uses of a large multi-purpose room with the advantages of a top quality restaurant and coffee bar.
